Australia's oldest accessories retailer, Oroton, is entering the clothing market after debuting its first ever apparel collection in Sydney on Wednesday.
The collection, which launched at this week's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, is a step out for the retailer known for leather goods, handbags, and accessories.
Oroton, which has built up over 50 stores since its inception in 1938, presented clean, monochrome, and preppy clothing for women alongside its traditional accessories.
Vogue fashion editor, Kirstie Clements, appeared to be impressed by its debut, and congratulated the brand via Twitter.
"Clean, concise, very appealing... Sandals were gorgeous, the whole show was a great entree into ready to wear," she wrote.
It's not yet clear whether the retailer will be selling the collection in its existing accessories format store, building new clothing-orientated sites, or selling wholesale.
Its owner, the ASX-listed Oroton Group, has over 900 employees and $135.6 million revenue a year as of 2009.
